Experience Old World tradition at an out-of-this world celebration! Green County Cheese Days is the oldest and largest food festival in the Midwest - honoring Swiss heritage, and the cheese making and dairy farming traditions that are deep-rooted in the area. Since 1914, Monroe's Historic Courthouse Square has served as a scenic backdrop to the festival grounds, and the celebration attracts crowds of revelers ready to yodel, polka, and consume cheese by the truckload. Highlights include: live music and Swiss entertainment all weekend, Family Farm Adventure, Children's Parade led by the Cheese Days Prince and Princess, dairy farm and barn quilt bus tours, arts & crafts fair, carnival, antique car and tractor show, street dances, old-time cheese making demonstration, cheese and beer pairings, cow milking contest, and The Swiss Colony Cheese Days Parade.
