Come and enjoy this unique ethnic presentation! Share with your family the story of Swiss independence , written by German playwright Friedrich Schiller. It's a live theater presentation with intricate costumes and a lively cast that includes goats, cows and horses. More than 200 local volunteers join to make each colorful performance come to life. Wilhelm Tell Drama - at the Tell Grounds on Hwy. W, east of New Glarus. Saturday - German presentation at 10:00 a.m., English presentation at 2:00 p.m. Sunday's English presentation begins at 1:00p.m.
Tent Camping - Tell Grounds Saturday, 5pm until Sunday 10am. No pets, please. $15 / person camping fee is charged to cover costs. Family rates are available.
Children's Laternenzug - Friday evening at 8:00pm in Fest tent.
Concert in Fest tent - Saturday at 7:30pm., downtown New Glarus.
Yodel Contest - Fest Tent - Sunday at 6:30pm. downtown New Glarus.

To order tickets for Tell Drama or to reserve a campsite, please send a check or money order to: Wilhelm Tell Community Guild, Box 456, New Glarus, WI 53574. Please specify the performance day, and the performance for which you wish to have tickets. Free parking and shuttle service are provided for your convenience at the Tell Grounds. No pets, please.

Sat. Aug. 30^th-

* 11am-2pm Mike Myers Designs, Inc will be doing a live lampworking/glass blowing demonstration from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm in the tent.  The demonstration will be conducted using a propane/oxygen torch and a simple studio set up.  They will be demonstrating how the glass rods react to the flame and then demonstrate how a simple glass pendant is created.  Custom glass pieces will be available for purchase during this time and also during their "Art in the Park" demonstrations on Sunday.

* 2pm-3pm Yodeling by Tony Blum-Seitz and Children.

* 3pm-7pm Bob Klinger Band (Polka)

* 3pm Cooking demo by Steffi Culberson owner of The Goose Chaser Farm. Steffi will demonstrate how to prepare two Swiss dishes. Enter your name for a chance to win a free cooking class.

ART FAIR IN NEW GLARUS

“Art in the Park” held in conjunction with 71^th Annual Wilhelm Tell Drama

The village of New Glarus will be a traveler’s destination of choice Labor Day weekend, headed for New Glarus’ Village Park and the 45^th annual fine art and craft fair, “Art in the Park”.

“Art in the Park” will take place Sunday, Aug. 31st from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.  Juried artists will sell their wares, including pottery, paintings, jewelry, photography and more.

“This year we are very excited to be featuring local artist Carol Broadley, who has been creating distinctive pottery for over ten years.  We have other excellent artists from Wisconsin, and several other surrounding states.  We also have some activities for children this year,” said organizer Mary Thomson.

Music, food and quick access to New Glarus’ charming downtown round out the day.

“Travelers hoping to take in our celebratory 71^th presentation of the drama ‘Wilhelm Tell’ featuring Swiss folk dancing, music, and live animals, may want to spend the weekend with us. Families can enjoy everything from camping, a children’s lantern parade and a yodel contest”, said Thomson. “Another fun event during our festival weekend is ‘Schuetzenfest’, a marksmen’s tournament that has it’s origins dating back to medieval times,” according to Thomson.
